Main Air Vent Rattle

Hi,
My service tech recently replaced my main vent in my 2-pipe steam system. The old one had no name but the new is a Hoffman #75. This new one spits some water sometimes as the old one had, but this Hoffman is also making a rattling buzzing noise while venting. I can bump it with my palm and something internal rattles. I am guessing that this is defective?

Thanks

They will rattle if you shake or tap them but I have not had them rattle when they are mounted upright. The Buzzing noise is probably air being vented out. You probably need more that just one Hoffman 75 on that main to vent it properly if it is forcing air out fast enough to hear it. The water spitting may be where you have it mounted or the steam is really wet (which is a whole other issue).
