Danfoss RA 2000 TRV for single pipe steam...connection

Does anyone know if you can use a brass street elbow to connect the Danfoss TRV valve unit to the radiator? Danfoss instructions say rather cryptically that you must not "pipe" an extension from the radiator to the TRV (with an illustration that looks like a pipe extension, not a street elbow). However Danfoss instructions also say that installations may include an "optional" 45 degree street elbow. Danfoss reps are unavailable to interpret this so can anyone answer this?

The general warnings are precautionary, 45 degree street elbows are generaly used on convectors where the vent port on the element is in the vertical position. The installation instructions that come with the 1 pipe steam valve show the assembly. Extensions generally cause the condesate the collect and sometimes block the air from venting, so they should be kept to a minimum. See www.na.heating.danfoss.com and look for the installation instructions or call the factory at 866.375.4822 for (technical) assistance.0
