Radiator & Steam Trap

I noticed on one of my larger radiators there was this attachment sticking out of the steam trap
(See Picture attachment below).
It is the only one in the house out of about 12 radiators.
? What is the purpose of this ? Is it useful ? Should I replace it with a new steam trap for better heat and functioning. Thank you..
