two pipe steam system with hoffman differential loop

This system hammers a lot. It did not do this last year. I have a hoffman main steam vent on top of the hoffman differential loop and it spits cold water. I have a pressuretrol on this which is set as low as I can but it does go to about 3 lbs before it cutts off. Any ideas?
