IFC Circulator and Water Quality

I have run into IFC in Circulators getting stuck open and experiencing ghost flow. The worst one is on a single zone mod/con where the DHW will run for hours because so much flow is heading out backwards through the heating zone. I have pulled the check valve and cleaned it, but it failed again almost immediately. The system piping is older cast iron piping and radiators. Would a 1.25"spring check be more reliable?

And that my friend is why I consider them one of the worst ideas ever put on to the piping public.
You should try to winterize a house with a hydronic system full of them. You don't even know they are there, and it is a P. Poor way around a regular flow check.
Do they rate circulator flow with and without them? They have to add some restriction to the flow. Maybe that's a reason why you need hydraulic mining pumps to get water to flow around a system now. Unwanted restriction from Internal Flow Checks.0
