Clean #2 fuel oil

A new customer had an oil smell in the bldg. No Firematic valves and no oil filter. The customer was told they do not need an oil filter because #2 is clean. The oil was leaking out of a bent copper line at a flare fitting on oil pump, bending the flare and flare nut was a little loose also. I wish I had paid better attention in that oil class! Thanks to you, whoever you are. Filter, nozzle, 2 Firematic valves, and 5 hrs labor to remove the indoor blower assembly to clean up the oil.

if someone says you do not need an oil filter i would ask what other work they had done to the system to make sure you go over every thing they had done.

have you ever owned a automobile that didn't have a oil, air and fuel filter?

I once owned a 1932 Model A Ford with a splash fed 4 banger motor. I don't remember that it had a oil filter. All others since have had them.

Where do these people come from?

I work with P50 diesel, which is almost like jet fuel....don't matter every heating appliance gets an oil filter. There is no exception. Firematic valves are code here in Canada but good luck finding them installed. They are where I work, but not where I live. I work away from home...
