My new zone t-stat is not available yet. I am wondering can I use the existing t-stat to control the new zone as well by branching the wire to the new zone pole?

So one thermostat to operate 2 zone valves?
You need to determine the current draw of the valves and make sure the thermostat has the capacity to switch that load. That info should be labeled on the zone valves, and on the I&O manual for the thermostat.
Another method is to tie the stat to a relay control, then to the zones.Bob "hot rod" Rohr

Or easier yet, manually open one zone valve, letting flow happen when other operates0

I am using circulators, not the zone valves.0
