Hey,
I was wondering if I purchased bio-fuel heating oil was it worth it? I know its suppose to burn cleaner and create less soot, but does it heat the same as regular number 2 oil?
thanks

Is bio-fuel some kind of branded product?
Pure biodiesel (known in the trade as B99 or B100) will dissolve most kinds of rubber and many plastics and can not safely be used in unmodified equipment. B20 and below are generally safe, though the increased solvent activity can put decades old sludge into solution, so have a few extra filters on hand during the initial changeover. The methanol used in in its manufacture causes biodiesel to retain a more water than petrodiesel does, so there is potential for accelerated rusting in steel tanks and lines.1 -
Basically B20 is heating oil with 20% biodiesel. So mostly heating oil. B3 has 3% biodiesel . Like Kurt said.
