Exhaust smell coming from vents

Hi we recently moved into a used home that has an outdoor tank and a Bard furnace that we were told was about 6 years old from the LL. We had kerosene delivered because in NY oil gels up outdoors. Now when the furnace kicks on a strong kero-exhaust smell fills the house. Had someone look at it said things look ok, but this is not a normal smell....any ideas?

We are concerned for our daughter but not sure where to start other than having someone look at it

Upstate ballston spa, right now we are using space heaters, we shut the furnace off. It ran for a few days but I don't trust that smell, it's like exhaust but the service guy said everything was ok...stressful

We have a smoke alarm and a carbon monoxide alarm and both are fine, but I shouldn't be smelling kero in my home and I dont wantmy little girl breathing it in either.

Doesn't sound right. Get another service person there to assess.

Possible cracked heat exchanger, or not venting, or oil leak in the furnace compartment, or many other possibilities. Have a couple of pros check into this. Do not run until it is resolved. Also is this a recent home purchase, or rental? If you bought it, I would get in touch with the previous owner.

I would also try to find someone on here. It is sh$$ like this that pushes people towards gas conversion. The price isn't enough reason anymore
