I have a Smith G8 with the EZ-Gas on it. I checked the firing chamber the other day and saw the blanket was still on the chamber floor. I thought you were supposed to leave the target wall and remove the floor blanket. Ring any bells out there?

Also what would be a typical time to start raising steam from a cold start? This is the 8-3 model and currently firing at 90,000BTU. i only have 200 sq ft of EDR so the full capacity of 283 sq ft is not needed. Over the last year I have experimented with firing rates of 77,000 - 84,000 - 90,000 and 110,000 BTUs. The combustion has been checked after each change with combustion meter. I find that 90,000 BTU's does the best job of getting steam to the end of my 13 ft steam main ( 1each Gorton #1 and MOM #1 main vents). It takes fewer BTU's to get steam to the end of my main at 90 than the other rates I've tried.
