Just wondering is it a good practice to put ball valve on each baseboard branch in a water heating system? one side or both side (in and out)?

Never a bad idea to have a lot of isolation valves in a system. If you do install them, I would also put in a drain fitting on each branch so that you can drain each one on its own.1 -
