Rococo American Radiator Air Vent Location?

I recently picked up two 38" tall 3-column Rococo radiators made by American Radiator Co. The guy I purchased them from had used them in a hot water system, and I'm adapting it for my 1-pipe steam system. So as such, there is currently no tapping for an air vent. There is a boss on the center column, very near the bottom... would this be the correct location to drill and tap for the air vent? It just seems so... low. I attached a pic of someone else's Rococo, with the boss circled in red for reference. There are no other such areas (except for the air bleed tapping at the top, which I was going to plug for my purposes). Just wanted to check before I pull out the drill. Thanks in advance.

I have the very same radiator, although always fitted for steam. The vent is drilled about 3 inches below the center cross bar

That boss is the correct steam vent location on a water-type radiator. On a steam-type, the boss is usually a bit higher.

Thanks for the insight guys, I didn't realize they made different designs/castings depending on the intended use. I'll go ahead and drill the boss. Thanks again!
