Steam fittings

I am trying to install an old steam rad that was disconnected a few years back.
The pipe was capped off.
The original fittings and valve are gone.
Just wondering, can I use regular brass threaded ball valves? The kind that you get from home depot ?
Thanks.

Use a radiator valve
Why wouldn't you use a radiator valve?

Thanks for all your help. Unfortunately its very difficult to get parts for one pipe steam where I am but I did manage to get the rad hooked up and working.
Thanks again!0
