Manaul J and Manual N, say that these load calc methods will only work for buildings up to 3 story's, Can anyone explain the problem of using manual J for a 5 story building, Or have a way for me to do the load properly?

Manual J or Block Load
Block load (readily available on the net) will take care of your commercial needs....but really, if you do the manual j sheets correctly, the amount of floors is irrelevant. Check out some demos on youtube for manual j if you aren't sure about what you are doing with it.

Stack effect calculations
Manual J and N, from ACCA.org are only for buildings up to 3 story's, I KNOW manual J etc.... That's all I do all day and yes I did read the book cover to cover several times.
For building over 3 story's the infiltration is different because of a stack effect so my question now is how do I calculate the infiltration loads on high rise buildings without becoming a P.E.
If anyone can help... Thank you.....0 -
