Main air valves

I was just at my moms, I noticed the main air valves where on the end of the returns, would that matter at all? I didn't go up to see what size they where but they where on the returns. Two return one on both of them.

Only question I have is should there be more then one on both sides just to rush the air out and get the steam quicker to the rads.?

    That would depend

on how much air was in the mains. Measure their length and diameter and post the info here. We can tell you what you need.

    Moms home

I'm not going back for a few weeks, one side is 15 feet out with 2 inch pipe and turning coming back to the return with 1-1/2 pipe about the same 15 feet

The secound supply is going over. 25 feet of 2 inch then returning with 1-1/2 pipe . All pipe is high. Not much Is on the ground except the heart ford loop near the boiler.

    I'd use

one Gorton #1 or Hoffman #75 on the shorter main and two of either model on the longer one. This will not only speed up the steam flow (assuming the present vents are undersized) but also balance it.

    Nice

What about using the tankless coil to help do a radiant floor application with a direct water heater, or use the return piping on the steam boiler?

How much is the radiant load

is it bigger than a coil could handle?
