What is the model number and Btu input for an American Standard hot water boiler that is 47" long, 65" high and 31" wide? The ID plate is long gone.
Thanks,
Andy

picture?
Oil or gas? sounds like oil, for the input/output, just do the math, fire rate and efficiency.0 -
Post a picture of the boiler
and we can probably ID it.All Steamed Up, Inc.

Hi Steamhead,
I am having the same problem. I don't have the plate to this American Standard hot water boiler.0 -
We'll need a little more information than thatjakofaltrades said:Hi Steamhead,

Hi All,
I have a boiler with the same problem and so I am posting the pictures. Can someone tell me what the BTU are for this boiler? We have it in a small apartment building but the plate with the model number is missing and we don't know the model number or BTU's. The building was built in 1969 and the boiler was manufactured by American Standard. Please let me know if you have any questions, any help with this will be much appreciated.
Thank you!0 -
Why do you need to know? Are you replacing the boiler?0
-
No, it works fine but it appears we need to know more about the model and the btu's. We are going to add a check valve and it appears that it also needs a CSD 1.

The boiler is missing its plate and it would be great if I could get one off the same old model but I don't know the model number so I thought it maybe one of the member's here might know where to look to get the details of this mystery.0

My best guess based on the number of burners is 250,000 to 300,000 BTUH input.
Can you look inside above the burners and count the amount of boiler sections. What size is the chimney pipe?0 -
i would clock the gas meter. The CSD-1 refers to testing the safety controls per ASME standards - if you are under 400,000 BTUs the state of Michigan requires the testing every three years instead of annually. Is the check valve you mentioned going on the water feed to the boiler? If it is straight water in the boiler a double check with vent similar to a watts 9d is probably what they would use - if there are conditioning chemicals in the boiler then a more pricey RPZ is required.1

Hi JStar, I am not sure how the boiler sections are defined, but I will take a look. I will also measure the diameter and repost tomorrow.

Hi Matt,
We have not been treating the water for boiler with chemicals. If I can definitively determine the BTU's that will be helpful.

G-2 series I believe. How many cast-iron sections does the boiler have? All Steamed Up, Inc.

I think it's closer to 20K per burner.0

Has anyone thought of doing a heat loss for the building? If the boiler was sized properly, this should pretty much tell you what size boiler you have in there.0
-
Not true, a heatloss should be done, however most boilers are grossly oversized.wholesalerbill said:Has anyone thought of doing a heat loss for the building? If the boiler was sized properly, this should pretty much tell you what size boiler you have in there.

null
Heatloss may have changed since boiler was installed.0 -
