in Strictly Steam
I ran into a working rice coal burning steam boiler in Brattleboro Vt.

Its a steel  National Radiator Company  It has the main name plate stamped into

it with the Big  "H"  symbol  Relief valve cap. 5360 lbs /hr  and then it has the

letters - HSB  17271               Boiler Number AC6015            S/N 8334

does any one know what the HSB stands for? Also what that means for the

number after it of 17271?



Still looking to find out what the letters HSB 17271 mean.

    My guess???

    My guess is the big "H" somehow ties back to Hoffman and "HSB" Hoffman Steam Boilers or Hoffman Speciality Boiler (Products or Division)??? I did find this:

     the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Co. (HSB) and worked in the Codes and Standards (C&S) Group in Hartford, Conn.

    HSB letters

    Still looking for what the  Stamped Letters HSB and the number after it 17271

    that is on the Main name plate.

    It probably is : the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Co. (HSB) and worked in the Codes and Standards (C&S) Group in Hartford, Conn.  The numbers are probably a product number.
