    Cannister filters:

The best repair is to replace it with a spin on type like a Gerber.

After a while, the gasket under the hold down nut and the bleed screw (if it has one) will become as hard as a tar road. They will weep and/or leak.

When was the last time you saw a canister type filter on your automobile? Even my lawn mowers have spin on filters.

    Avoid anguish. Replace it.
