How do I remove this spring/compression element on my rad trap?

It appears to be permanently attached, but I am not 100% sure. I have the replacement cage and need to replace this trap ASAP, it's 10 degrees so I need to keep the system running. With the trap off (even with a cork in the return line) the lack of pressure keeps the system cycling every few minutes. (At least I think that's the reason) also I want to avoid damaging any parts that I don't need to. Please help.

They should spin out with a wrench. Just be careful not to break the thread.0 -
Or
grab the old bellows with a pair of pliers. It screws into the top cap and should come right out.All Steamed Up, Inc.
