Hydrolevel 170SV on steam boiler

I was looking up documentation for my LWCO so I could clean it and I noticed that the 170SV is designed for hot water and not steam systems. I have one installed on the equalizing loop in back of my steam boiler. Is this okay? What is the functional difference between LWCOs designed for steam vs. hot water systems?
