Pictures and ideas for low pressure gauge setup

So after reading this site for a few days I've learned a ton.  I would like to add a low pressure gauge to my system.  It's a gas fed 1 one pipe system in a parallel confiruation I believe.  The pressure control mounts to a pig tail that comes out of the top of my LWCO.  Does anyone have examples that I can follow.  I did find a PDF on here that showed a nice diagram with part numbers that I think I can use but it will need tweaking due to available space and I only want the low pressure gauge.  I'd love to see if anybody has setup something real nice with copper or brass.  I'd love to see some nice jules verne steam punk stuff....

I don't know how punk it is.

Steam punk has to have an air of anachronism about it, like what would airplanes look like if they'd never invented internal combustion or jet engines.

I'm including a picture of my 30 psi gauge, which I cleaned and re-calibrated, to remind you that you need one in working order.

This was how I did it. Before and after shots.

    you're right

I do need a 30 psi gauge... I'll be on the hunt for a similar gauge to yours

    I can do that

That looks doable to me... Is that teflon tape on the joints?

    Low pressure Gauge

    Here is one way

    Always

I have always used PTFE tape (DuPont wants you to know they have never licensed Teflon® for use in thread sealing tape.) exclusively on brass pipe and fittings and on smaller steel pipe too. It makes it much easier to take your work apart later. The only place you should not use it is where the pipe joint has to provide an electrical connection, such as LWCO probes.

By the way, I really like that pigtail James used. I think he got it at McMaster & Carr. It's not that different from a regular straight pigtail; they've just added a little extra arc and bend to center the coil, but it really looks great.

    Aside to James

That jacket needs a paint job.

I've been wondering when I would start to see guys doing custom hot-rod paint jobs on the boiler jackets, with snazzy metallic auto paints, and maybe even some nice, airbrushed artwork, covered in crystal clearcoat. I've even thought of doing my own, except it's getting so old that it wouldn't be a good investment. I'm not that crazy about that olive green Peerless uses on their steam boilers.

    Paint jobs

on some of the old elevators I've run across were gorgeous.  Beautiful pinstripes with figured corners, even a set of initials on one of them.

Another Pic and I should of gotten a 3psi gauge not a 5psi

    Here's another way.

My original 0-30psi guage appears to be water proof (still works) but I now moved it up higher above the water line. All of this is off the top of the LWCO.

Vaporstat wired in series with pressuretrol.

    I would add a valve

to isolate the Vaporstat and low pressure gauge from the rest of the system.  A union or two might not hurt either.  MarkS had a nice setup for this.

    tall pigtail

Thanks Hap_Hazard for noticing the pigtail. Yes, the pigtail I got was online from McMaster. I wanted a different style than the one I used to have since the old one was very short and closer to the water line than I liked, and I wanted to be sure the pressuretrol and gauge never got wet. So this was the tallest I could get, it is listed as:

    Style "C" NPT Male x NPT Male 7-1/2" Red Brass 4031K67 14.00

Sbelyo, if it helps, see my other posts that explain how I learned how to install my pigtail and 3 psi gauge at
