Request for Main Vent Pictures

in Strictly Steam
This is my third house with Steam Heat, and i continue to find the Main Vents elusive.   The prior two homes had no Main Vents (??) i considered adding one, but never got to it.  The current home has to have them, but I can't find them. 



I would love to see photo's of various actual main vents (not the comic strip picture on Gortons website) for my viewing delight, perhaps give some hints as to where to look.

    Hunting down the main vents

    I don't have any pictures, but if you follow the supply pipes for your system, they most likely leave the boiler, and go as far as the last radiator takeoff. Then they will loop back to the boiler. At some point the dry return will drop down to floor level (wet return). At the point of drop, you should see a cat food can sized object, (or bullet-shaped). This arrangement is a parallel flow system. On a counter flow system, there are no dry returns, and the condensate flows back down the main. Here, the main vent will be at the end, after the last radiator. These vents are worth their weight in gold as they will allow the air to escape easily, and not use extra fuel pushing the air out.--NBC
