Whistling noise, two pipe steam.

Installed new small radiator in bathroom. Two pipe steam manual valve and steam trap. This is an apartment building so I have no access to the boiler and I will not be able to adjust the steam pressure. We renewed supply and return off existing risers to one small 10 section radiator. Pipes are pitched properly, but the owner is complaining of a whistling noise. We used a ½ inch angled sarco steam trap. Owner also claims that the other radiators do not make noise. Any ideas? Is there another steam trap that might be less prone to whistling? Again, I’ve no control over the pressure and will not be allowed to touch the boiler. Any advice greatly appreciated.

  • how did you

How did you install the new radiator without shutting off the boiler if u have no access to boiler room?? Sounds like you have no business working on the system in first place. Others , go ahead bash me for being mean.. liabilty issues here if you know what its means..

Boiler does not run All the time

I was merely stating that the building would not allow us to mess with the pressure settings

Sorry if I offended Or misled

I have been in the business For many years

You said you have no access to boiler which made us think otherwise...now what's the pressure reading??

    Pressure

The pressure is almost definitely More than it should be.

In these large apartment buildings The super generally turns off The heat control

To work on the system. Again we will not be permitted to alter the pressure settings.

I know And fully understand pressure is not helping matters but they will just tell me that every other radiator is okay it is my problem.

    Pictures

A lot of the pros are out working so it may take some time to get a reply especially with the weather we've been having.

In the mean time if you can post pictures of the radiator and its piping it may be very helpful.
