banging pips

just finisht fixing up my one pipe system (with your help!!) and everything is working almost fine, just a few bumps left:

1. can't get the water clean, skimmed it 4 times (each time for about 4 hours) about a week apart and it still "rains" in the sight glass, and the water is very rusty.

2. occasionally at the end of the cycle when the boiler shuts down there is some banging (it sounds like someone is throwing some pebbles at the pipes one after the other) but it doesn't sound like regular water hammer.

any comment will be greatly appreciated

drain and "wand" the boiler, clean wet return

The wand is a homemade attachment you can search the wall for several people have used such to really get the boiler internally clean. But if that water is that rusty and sludgy then you need to drain/fill the boiler and if possible clean the wet return right before hartford loop as masssive amounts of gunk/sludge often collect at this low point and will keep lifting into the boiler if not cleaned or purged.
