Peerless WBV04 Extrol Placement is this OK?

I am wondering if my extrol tank placement is acceptable. I am asking because the boiler a peerless wbv04 was installed in 2002 and the extrol tank has failed (waterlogged tripping relief valve) I hear mixed things about extrol life expectancy and am wondering if tank placement has anything to do with its failure.

Reading the peerless install guide the extrol has been piped off the internal airscoop tapping with and air bleed on top. The circulators are to the left on the header and are pumping away from the boiler.  The copper pipe off the top side of the tee that is valved off leads to the old steel air control tank in the joists. I assume this was left in place so to be able to switch back to it. So is this an ok setup or should I invest money in having it reconfigured?
