Multiple Zone Hotwater Baseboard Question

I have a 3 zone hot water baseboard system in my home. I consistantly only use the zone downstairs for heat in winter. I have a wood pellet stove upstairs to offset propane costs which heats the entire upstairs space. My questions are: Should I run the unused zones from time to time? By not using them will the zone valves eventually stop working? They are Honeywell valves. Is it bad for the system to not use these zones at all? Are there any other problems that may arise by not using these zones. First home with a multiple zone system.
