1990 elect 80 gallon water heater ? should I chg it

ok i put this in my house in 1990..I have cleaned it out thru the element hole a few times...chgd the lower element once...it works great...when we are gone for a week and shut it off the water is still warm when we return...so...are we on borowed time ??? Is there anything I should be doing to help it not devolpe a leak ??
