The Energy and Utilities Alliance (EUA) is asking all MPs to support National Radiator Day on 1st November. The day is designed to raise awareness of simple and cheap ways to improve the efficiency of radiators, keeping homes warmer and bills down and each MP will receive a radiator key to enable them to take action.

We should support from America....: )

  • What about a catchy saying?

    The day before my birthday!

"Keep your pressure low, and your venting generous"

Maybe the authorities should go round with an IR camera, a la google street view, and look for signs of heat leakage, and encourage homeowners to log on, and view their own IR pictures. Some form of identification would be needed to view an address.--NBC
  • I did a job

In Chestnut Hill, Ma. whee the radiators were recessed, nearly touching the outside clapboards, and convecting heat up onto the stud cavity for many decades, we offset the radiators so we could get 1 1/2" of foam with foil backing and sealed the stud cavity. I did the first floor first and the difference was so great between the first and second floor, where I hadn't insulated yet the homeowner thought the heat on the second floor was off. They went from having higher bills than their neighbors to having lower bills than their neighbors in one month and reported much greater comfort with all that radiant heat now being directed into the room rather than being absorbed into the outside clapboards. I wished I had an infrared camera to show the difference between the first and second floors when the job was half done.

    Thanks, Bob Gagnon
