VENT ON SHORT MAIN?

Hello Gents. I have a question regarding my one pipe parallel flow heating system with a wet return. The boiler is situated in the rear of my basement in a 2 story building. I have 2 mains. One main has a 40 foot run and heads towards the front of the building. The second main is only 4 1/2 feet starting from the top of the riser and ending at the point when the pipe heads upstairs. Do I need a main vent installed on the 4 1/2 main?? I have a main vent at the end of the 40' main. I posted the pic of the short main. Is there a down side on having a short run on a main? Thanks.

That main
can probably be vented through the radiator that it feeds unless you are having problems with it that indicate a venting problem. It may take a larger vent than other radiators on the system.
In your picture it looks like the boiler header just stops, it should drop down to the boiler return port to meet the hartford loop. Hopefully it just appears that way because of the angle the photo was taken.
