VXT-24 used to work

The newly installed VXT-24 and Safgard 400 LWCO used to work fine for the first month of operation. One day the VXT-24 readout was 71 and the next morning it was 400 AND the boiler water level was LOW. LWCO light flashing.
Cleaned the VXT-24 strainer and checked that water was flowing to the boiler when the Manual Feed was depressed.
Reset the readout to 000 and hoped everything would work again!
Emptied the boiler to just below the probe. The LW light came on but the VXT-24 didn't feed any water. Used the manual feed to top up the boiler.
Sounded like a solenoid was activated when the manual feed was depressed. It seems that the solenoid is not being activated during the automatic feed cycle.
Any suggestions?
