Intermittent to Interrupted Conversion

Is it possible to convert an intermittent burner to interrupted? I have a Carlin EZ-1 burner that has a flame retention head and an oil shut off solenoid valve on it. Recently had to replace the three wire control (carlin 48245) and there was an advertisement in the box for a Carlin digital 48245 four wire control that attempts to run the burner on interrupted cycle, but doesn't do pre and post purge with the valve. That got me thinking, would be nice to put a control on that does pre and post purge and runs interrupted. Can a burner be converted, and if so, what does is the responsible process?
