Weil-McLain Steam Boiler not firing

Hi and thank you in advance... yesterday our steam radiator heat cut out and the (20-year-old) PS-801-24 LWCO was making a terrible buzz. "Rebooted" it by switching on and off; the buzz continued but then the water feeder fed water until it was above the top of the glass gauge -- and the gauge was dripping.

OK. Drained the boiler below the probe, installed a new PS-802-24 LWCO which seems to control the water feeder perfectly ... but the boiler still isn't kicking in (thermostat's on, new LWCO test lights working fine).

Before spending the $$$ on a pro, is there one last thing or two I can check that would keep the boiler from firing, given that the LWCO and feeder seem to be working?

Thank you! -Ken

  • Checking safeties

You could use a jumper wire with alligator clips to take each safety out of the picture momentarily. Jump the thermostat first while jumping the pressuretrol, and LWCO .

Surely only one of them is malfunctioning.--NBC

    Maybe,

when you flooded the boiler you clogged up your pressuretrol/pigtail. Clean those out or jumper the pressuretrol terminals and reevaluate.
