O-E System ?

Got a contractor replacing a steam radiator. He sent me a picture of the radiator and it appears to be an O-E system trap, however the radiator also has an air vent. The only other radiator in the home he has access to (the rest are behind covers) it set up the same. He is not sure if it drips to a wet or dry return.
Would a standard 1/2" Radiator Trap be OK to replace it? Is the air vent still needed?
I think this is the first O-E system we have come across and am not sure on what to recommend to the contractor.
Thanks,
