buderus / logalux blowing off water

my buderus gas boiler heater has started blowing off water suddenly after 8 years. Repairman came in and immediately replaced expansion tank.
I (think) I've isolated that the main cold water line is overpressurizing the boiler system to 30psi via my logalux indirect water heater somehow. If I have to have the heat exchanger coil replaced, is that a big deal? would I be better off replacing the whole unit? is this a typical issue?

Indirect failure
You most likely have a failed heat exchanger in the DHWTank. The tank must be replaced. Depending upon age, Buderus offers a pro-rated credit against a new tank. They do not pay any labor costs.
Since the Buderus tanks are not stainless steel, I offer the customer a choice: either a Buderus replacement with a 7-12 year life expectancy, or a new Stainless indirect that should last 50+ years or longer...0
