I have a VXT auto water feeder to my weil steam boiler.  Does anyone know if the VXT has a built in backflow preventer in it?  If not, other than the actual backflow prevent er valv, does anything else need to be installed?  Thanks

    Depends

It depends on your locality and what is now being required. A couple years ago I had to install a "testable" double check back flow preventer. It has to be tested each year and a report sent to the water company.

    check valve

you are required to put a swing check valve and a ball valve between the water feed and the boiler . you should also put a union between the feed and the check valve so you can check that it isn't passing in the event of a flooded boiler. A backflow preventer is required between the feed and the potable water source.

    Manual feed?

Does one need a back flow preventer with a manual feed?
