Valve on condensate pump discharge?

"Control" valve on the condensate pump discharge (which connects to the boiler feed tank). Why would it be there/what is the purpose?

In the photo the condensate tank and pump are on the right and the pump discharge with the valve piped to the boiler feed tank on the left.

That's Hoffman steam vapor/vaccum pump set up.. that valve stayed closed while making vaccum on the system and only open when the lower chamber is full.. where's the rest of the pipings for this to work properly??

    Typically,

the discharge valve is housed inside the cast iron housing that's partially obscured by the flexible conduit and pump motor.  Installing a solenoid valve is a good workaround when there's a problem with the OEM valve.

    Vacuum problem?

    Thanks.

Vacuum occurred to me this morning. The condensate pump was running, not continuously, but often this fall when it is not really cold. Could it be trying to create a vacuum and failing?

    Vent?

I'm confused by the vent. The vent goes over and ties to the feed tank vent?

    Edit - Nevermind.
