Sq recess plugs

I came across this and thought it might work for someone who has to get a square recess plug out of a boiler. I never used or even held one so I can't say how well it works.

tool
we use a similar type for removal of the plugs for our fuel oil lines0 -
If that tool is the one I think it is...
It is a painted casting and might work for brand new plugs, but is likely to snap if the plug puts up any fight. I carry a set of square bar stock sized to fit the plug hole and about 8" long which I turn with an adjustable wrench. Most metal shops can cut you some stock at a reasonable price and are glad to help you chose the right stock hardness to keep it from shattering in use. There was an error rendering this rich post.
