What type of boiler is this??

Hello,
A friend of mine just bought a wonderful old house. It has a hot water system with lots of radiators throughout the house. I have a steam system in my house and knowing that I have a boiler, my friend asked me to help him get his system started. He told me his boiler was a little old, but I wasn't prepared for what was lurking in the basement.
Can anyone help identify this type of boiler - also, I didn't see any type of circulating pump. Being a steam guy, I don't have much experience with hot water systems and I wonder if this is some kind of gravity system. Any help would be appreciated.
The thing is wrapped in asbestos and looks like something from "Lost in Space."
Thanks

Gravity
His hot water system is gravity.
That's a Weil McLain boiler probably once coal converted to gas.0 -
A good boiler
Weil Mclain covered in asbestos. Gravity circulation. It might last forever. designed to run at low temps, most work well set around 130 or so with standing radiation. Burner may need updating and asbestos may need an encapsulate.

Thanks
The asbestos is in pretty good shape for as old as it is. All the pipes in the basement are also wrapped in asbestos. What kind of material is used as encapsulate? Paint? The gas burner looks to be somewhat modern. I suggested to my friend to have it inspected by pro. When I was there last night the pilot was off and I didn't want to fire it up without a pro checked it out.0 -
Encapsulants
are latex based mastic or aerosol products used to keep the material from fraying and becoming airborne.
