Trick for moving steam radiators.

I came up with a simple trick for dealing with moving a steam radiator by myself today.
I had to disconnect a radiator while painting a bathroom. I knew it might be competely waterlogged as it was pitched wrong. I rigged 2 blocks of 2x4 so I could lever up the spud end as soon as a disconnected the radiator. Then I wiped the spud with a paper towel and stuck a piece of aluminum foil duct tape to the end of the spud to seal it. I moved the rad out of the room. The tape held all day. Not a drop. And tonight it peeled right off when I got it to a place I could dump it. Probably got a over quart of water out. And now it is reinstalled with some new wedges under the feet. I bet it will heat better.
Cheers
Richard.
