steam boiler cycles off every 15 minutes to check for low water

Hi
I had a steam boiler installed a few years ago. it was set up to shut down approx. every 15 minutes or so to check for low water. after 60 seconds it fires up again. When it was first installed I called and asked if the circuitry could be adjusted to eliminate the shut down. They said it could but I never had it done. It seems to me that every time it stops to check air returns to the system and extends the time to generate steam. Do you agree? Should I eliminate this low water safety set up?
thank you

Cycleguard
Sounds like you have a Cycleguard LWCO which can be replaced with a Hydrolevel Safeguard LWCO to eliminate that issue. Here is an earlier thread which discusses this exact issue: http://www.heatinghelp.com/forum-thread/137278/Cycleguard-on-Smith-boiler-preventing-radiators-from-heating0 -
Knucklehead safety
This control which shuts off every 15 min, must have been designed by knuckleheads wishing to protect against a bad installation.--NBC0 -

Thank you very much for responding. The earlier thread was very helpful.
