Want to hire someone for weekly maintenance of boiler/steam heat for season--what is involved?

All I know is that parents in Northern New Jersey (Tenafy) have pre-war steam heat and a manual water feed. Can someone explain what is needed to safely maintain/run during heating season so I can hire a local handyman to come and do it? Thanks kindly

You should probably click on the 'find a contractor' above and have that company come out and do a pre-season inspection on your boiler to make sure it is safe and has been maintained. Simple, inexpensive things that are often ignored can yield decent fuel savings. Then they can show you or your handyman what needs to be done weekly.
My disclosure- I'm a homeowner. Not a pro0 -

I service all of NJ. I would not trust the average handyman to know how to properly clean or maintain a steam boiler. Feel free to call or email me at any time. Even for some free advice.
