1941 National Radiator Boiler

We just got the contract for a housing authority complex. We maintain the hot water and steam systems throughout 7 buildings. At the end of the day today, we walked into a pit with these ol' beauties sitting there, begging us to ogle and drool.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to work on them today. Our only obligation to them is service, not maintenance. Thought the Wall would enjoy the pictures, though. They plan to rip these boilers out next year. I hope to capture their soul before they hit the junkyard.

I've put in a request to take one of the boiler doors home.

    Burner?

Is that thing next to the blue ladder a gigantic power burner the size of my entire boiler?

Single pipe 392sqft system with an EG-40 rated for 325sqft and it's silent and balanced at all times.

    Burner

Yup. That's the burner. 2 to 6 Million BTUH.

The boilers are about 15 feet tall, 10 wide, and 20 deep. They used to supply an entire 10 building complex, but now only serve a few buildings.
