L8148E / Chronotherm 3 24V problem

I have the above with (2) 8043F zone valves. I had to remove the wiring which was a mess (but worked) to do some repairs. I've rewired per Figure 8 of the Honeywell Aquastat manual http://www.pexuniverse.com/docs/pdf/Honeywell-Aquastat-Relays-L8148.pdf.

The thermostats are showing -AC, no power. I have 24V across TV/T. The jumper in the 8148 is across W/Z. I do not have an external transformer, and assumed the wiring would be as shown, just cutting off the 3rd valve. Evidently this is incorrect.

There is no sketch which shows an internally powered 2 zone setup.

    Because you shouldn't

There is no drawing with 2 zone valves using the aquastat relay for power because you shouldn't do this. The aquastat isn't designed with the extra volt-amps to carry external zone valve motors.

Note figure 8 you reference shows a external transformer, and that is what you need too.

Trying to draw power from the aquastat relay will result in zone valves not fully opening, erratic burner/boiler operation, burned out transformer in the aquastat relay, any or all these situations.
