    always another angle

Mark, I got this from David Richardson at the National Comfort Institute today. What I shared with him is one effective way to put this back down the hole it crawled out of: notify every customer that got their service that since they set themselves as the industry standard, then if they missed anything that resulted in damages, they can be liable. For instance, they miss a gap in the top of the thermal envelope, which results in an ice dam that causes water damage and mold. Also, BPI and HERS probably have a good case for a class action as restraint of trade as do the IR camera mfrs.. Basically, they are trying to set themselves as an ANSI Standard and hold the monopoly on its application. Since there are IR thermographer certifications already existing, there are probably grounds to force the Patent Office to rescind these ridiculous patents, which never should have been issued.

When you set yourself up and an authority, you are held to your own standard.
