YORK, CARRIER & ETC....PACKAGED UNITS

How come on alot of York...Carrier...etc packaged units....there is only a high side pressure tapping on the discharge line of the compressor and not on the outlet of the condenser coil...I always get very high pressure readings there...how would I be able to check my subcool on these jobs...thanks Paul S

    Press tap

I would like to see a LL tap on the condenser side of the King Valve , that would make Recovery a little easier.. KindaSorta, the press should be pretty equal at the discharge line and the King Valve access. For SC use the LL access . When I replace a comp or recover the Freon to get rid of that stupid LLFD the factory puts in , in the cond unit, I install a LL Schrader just before the King Valve.

Do you check the gauge reading for zero when opened to the atmosphere ? Out of 6 sets on board , only 2 are zeroed . My one set ,the hiside gauge is a whopping 20 lbs off. So while I'm reading 300 it is really 280psig .

Temperature and pressure are relevant.  Yes the pressure is the same because you are on the high side of the system.  Temp is different, but you should already know that.  This is REF. 101.  I don't care if it's on the discharge or the LL...

RTU equipment Rarely have "King Valves" as they are not needed and ad to cost of equipment as does lo and ho press switches.  If you don't specify them, you get stripped models.
