Gerber Valve Body

We have a Gerber valve body (hot water, cold water and diverter valve) in our bathtub/shower.
It's from the 70s, yes it's ancient by today's standards but it works - - still.
We replace rubber washers and seats when the faucet drips after closing it.
Can we replace the valve stems that have washers with ceramic disc stems?
And do the valve seats have to come out if we are able to put in ceramic disc stems.
Thanks for any help you have for us.
