Order of Catagories on the Wall

I reordered the Categories on the Wall again. I thought alphabetical made sense but some folks wrote to disagree, so I thought we'd base the order on the number of posts for each category. The more posts each category has, the higher it will move up the Wall.

I hope that makes you all smile. Well, at least some of you.
Retired and loving it.

    Yeah, you screwed me up

I kinda had an order that I've been running the topics for a long time. The Wall, boom. AC, boom. Radiant boom. Gas, oil, dhw, boom boom boom. I could scroll the topics with my eyes closed after a lot of practice. Now I have to really pay attention again. Nice going!

    I never notice the order

hw hard is it to make the topic with the most recent reply go to the top...

    Catagories

When I first suggested putting strictly steam at the top it was to discourage newbies from asking steam questions in the wall. Invariably they would be told to repost in strictly steam.

If they had seen that at the top, then they would have gone there first.--NBC

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the new fourth request

    hopefully people will read them.

    Well, this way

we can see what the most active topic is- the Main Wall (which includes a lot of the previous Wall version before there were separate categories) and Steam.

    Another suggestion....

Hi Dan.  I wondered what you, and others thought about the following:

On posts (and who knows how long/far a post will go) , it seems to me it would be better if people can only reply and attach their post at the end of a thread, instead of inserting comments in between older posts.  It's a little hard (for me) to sift through an old post, looking for the newest comment, especially post that have hundreds of comments, and figure out who is responding to who (or what).

Almost all blogs & websites only let you post at the end of a thread.  The person responding usually puts "@ so&so", then their comments so readers can figure out to who (or is it whom) the poster is responding

Just wondered if anyone else had problems following along sometimes.....maybe it's just me.

    Thanks

    Steve.

    On Topic

Often, very active threads can go in many directions, with sub-categories all relating to the original post. I like being able to comment on a specific post. If it's placed at the end of the thread, the specific response can appear off-topic.

This can sometimes make it difficult to locate the last post in,granted. But, I think it lends itself to this sites success. The information contained in 100 posts can be enormous. Contained within that information is a concensus of some very smart individuals. The topics start out broad, and sometimes broaden. Then get more defined and refined. Everyone learns.....homeowners and pros. It's a "thing of beauty".
