Why is it a bad idea?
No one can predict the future. Secondly, I don't know why some trust government involvement to produce equilibrium. It wasn't government that got us to this particular "problem" of abundant resources. That is, private markets solved the issue of unlocking the energy and made us who we are. One can say the taxed man wants his share of the pie. We as free people must also take government land and unlock reserves on our land as well.0
