EZ-Gas Stays, Boiler is Upgraded

A couple years ago, we removed an old Esso oil burner from this American-Standard A-35 and installed a Carlin EZ-Gas, new firebox and the rest of the trimmings. The owners weren't ready for a completely new boiler, and the conversion paid for itself in less than two years.

Then the #67 LWCO got stuck and the boiler dry-fired. So it was time for a new boiler. These two pics came from my cell phone.

    We installed a Columbia 4-section

and changed the burner air tube, etc. to match the new boiler. Oh, and the new one has a probe-type LWCO so we won't have this problem again. Also a proper drop header.

We had upgraded the main vents before we converted the old boiler. This solved a long-standing steam distribution problem.

We'll see how much more fuel they save with the new boiler. This should be interesting.
