I've been looking for a used oil fired hot air furnace for my garage. I read somewhere that certain furnace don't like being in a cold area like the garage (cold when its not being used) Should I look for anything in particular?

is going to make it tough to be choosy with the make and model, I would imagine... I would make sure and check the heat exchanger when you buy...
What do you need for BTU output? New ones aren't super expensive and come with warranties...0 -

Be sure to check codes for heights above garage floors. Where I work, it doesn't matter if you park a vehicle in it or not. If the furnace or ignition source is in the same room, codes will apply.0
